Happy 18th Birthday Madison!

Today, November 30th, was Madison's 18th Birthday.  I cannot believe how fast it has gone by.  Even though I'm a little sad and some days it's hard to let him be "grown up", his Dad and I are very proud of the man he has come to be.

This year we didn't do any big parties because we wanted to be able to celebrate Madison's "in Style" since it was a big one so on Sophie's birthday we invited the grandparents over and they each had a cake and got presents from them.

It was a nice night and he was thrilled with the gifts and love they showered on him.

After he got home from school we started the festivities by opening presents.  Daddy had been to Lexington on business this morning and couldn't help but stop by the bookstore to pick up a few extra goodies.  He surprised Madison with a new shirt and a Sports Illustrated.

After the presents, we had him change and told him we were taking him out to dinner but didn't tell him where.   He was surprised when we pulled up in front of Ruth's Chris and told him he is now a man and we wanted to take him to do something "grown up" and every grown up should experience fine dining.

After dinner they brought him a plate with "Happy Birthday" written on it and a special dessert.  He whispered, "mom, how did they know it was my birthday, even the lady at the front desk wished me Happy Birthday?"

After dinner, Sophie of course needed to use the restroom.  The boys got worried because it was taking us so long.  What they didn't realize is that in a "fancy bathroom" they have items like lotion, mouthwash and fancy soap.  Sophie had to do it all.

On our way home, Madison had us stop so that he could do one more thing he is now old enough to do (thank goodness he didn't want a tattoo!)  It was lottery tickets!  He purchased a whole $3 worth.

After we got home and settled in, he got out of bed twice to come hug me and tell me thanks for the wonderful birthday and that night I went to bed thanking God for allowing me the privilege to raise this young man.

Happy Birthday Madison!  We love you.

Happy 4th Birthday Sophie

Today my baby turned 4.  I have told her all year that she absolutely was not allowed to turn 4, she had to stay 3 but she did not listen to me.  She grew up bigger and more beautiful this year.  Tonight we had Mamoo, Pappy, JoJo and Butch over to celebrate.  Sophie's best friend Lydia also came to join in the fun. I cooked Sophie's favorite meal "frimp", that's shrimp for you and me.   She also requested a pink cake with pink icing.

Every time JoJo comes over, she immediately sits down and begins playing with Sophie.  She will play anything Sophie asks, babies, doll house, art work....you name it and JoJo will play it.

Aiden had been left at Aunt D's house on Thanksgiving.  It was tragic.  JoJo stopped by and picked her up for Sophie on the way to our house.  Sophie was so excited to have her back.  The little blonde doll was a gift from her cousin Lila.  You press her tummy and she sings Jesus Loves Me.  Sophie thinks she is fabulous and I was starting to get a little worried that Aiden was getting tossed aside but no, now she just has to have them both together at all times.  It's so cute.

Sophie is so precious.  When you sing happy birthday to her, she covers her mouth and giggles the entire time.  I love it!

She received so many nice presents but she and Lydia were just happy to be together.

After snapping a few pics with the grandparents Sophie and Lydia put on their matching shirts and gave me the privilege of a photo shoot.  Little girls are so much fun!  I'm so glad Sophie has Lydia and I hope they are BFF's forever!

Happy 4th Birthday Sophie Fu, we sure do love you!

A Birthday Lunch With Fu

I was able to have lunch with Sophie today.  She was so excited when I showed up at school with cupcakes for her and her friends.

Because it was her birthday, she got to be the line leader. It's so funny how all the kids covet this spot in preschool.  It's such a big deal!

After lunch, the kiddos headed to the gym to burn off some serious energy before going back to class to take a nap.

As Sophie was leaving to go home, all her sweet friends gave her a hug and told her Happy Birthday.

Gobble....Gobble...Happy Turkey Day

This year we headed over to Aunt D's house for our first Thanksgiving meal of the day.  It was yummy and the kids had a great time playing and being together.

We were unable to do our Fall Birthday Celebration earlier in the season so we had a little party for all the Fall babies after dinner.  Sophie and Madison's birthdays are always right around Thanksgiving so it works out pretty good for them.

This year Madison turns 18 and Hunter turned 16 earlier in the month!  I cannot believe how big these boys have gotten.  It seems only yesterday Madison gave Hunter the name "Baby Huntoo" and we still call him that on occasion and probably always will.

Sophie was so cute.  When we  sang Happy Birthday, she covered her mouth and giggled the whole time.

After D's, we headed to Mamoo and Pappy's house.  There are two things I look forward to the most with my mom's dinner; her dressing, it's so yummy and her pecan pie made from my Aunt Ginna's recipe.  It's usually perfect and I could eat the whole thing but this year she forgot to put the sugar in and thus my Thanksgiving Day was less than ideal :(

Fortunately there is a beautiful thing that
follows Thanksgiving, it's called Friday and Friday means leftovers and the time to make fresh pecan pie which is what my Mommy did for me and I was very thankful!
