Halloween 2012

For several years I have made Sophie's Halloween costumes.  I really enjoy doing this.  We were so busy getting ready to move that I was tempted to just purchase one this year but couldn't make myself do it.  Trick or Treating lasts for such a short time in a child's life.  I know I only have so many years to do it so I took the time and started up the sewing machine.  Sophie wanted to be a Fairy and a Butterfly so we put the two together and made her a "Fairy Fly".  She was beautiful!

This was the first year in several that Madison did not have to work on Halloween.  I'm not sure who was more excited...him or Sophie.  Like me he has always loved this holiday and was thrilled he was getting to take her Trick or Treating.  He was also excited to go through her candy stash and swipe his favorites once they got home.

We came across many scary figures that night!

But Sophie was okay as long as her "Big Brother" was there holding her hand.

Christmas Pallets For A Toddler & A Teenager

Madison was going to be heading out of town to see Kaitlyn on his first few days of Christmas break.  He had kept Sophie for me Monday while I worked and promised her that that night they would make "pallets" on the floor and sleep in front of the Christmas tree before he left the next day.   He really is a great big brother and loves doing fun things with Fu.

They set up their beds and then Madison had to head off to work.  He had to close and wouldn't be home till almost 11 p.m. which is pretty late for a 4 year old.  We spent several hours trying to entertain her and keep her awake till he got home.

She and Daddy checked out their favorite ornaments on the tree.

I practiced taking photos of the tree, trying to get that cool "bokeh" that I've been seeing all over Pinterest.

Finally brother came home and they crawled into their pallets and fell fast asleep.  Sophie was up super early the next morning but as usual the teenager slept till noon no matter how hard Sophie tried to wake him up.
