Happy Derby Day

In Kentucky, the Derby is more like a two week celebration that ends with a 2 1/2 minute horse race and one beautiful thoroughbred being crowned with a blanket of red roses.  It is so much fun.  Our Derby this year was pretty low key.  It was a nice day and we spent it in the yard but Sophie managed to get into the spirit by dressing up Pooh Bear and watching the horses run. working

A beautiful day for the Zoo

Today we headed out for our first trip to the Zoo of the season.  Madison wanted to take Kaitlin so she could feed the giraffe's, her favorite animal.  After what seemed like weeks of rain we finally had a beautiful, sunny day.  We had a great time, although I think Sophie was a wee bit jealous of Kaitlin.  She constantly wanted Madison to hold her and she would wrap her arms around his neck as if to say, "I had him first!"

Ring Dance

For months now Madison has been looking forward to his Ring Dance.  Not because of the dance but because his girlfriend, Kaitlin, was coming in from Cincinnati to go with him and spend the night at our house.  It did not disappoint.  They had a wonderful time.  Kaitlin's mom and dad drove her in and her mom helped her get ready while we chatted and got to know each other better.  We took pictures, then she and Madison headed out for their first "official" big date.  He took her to Chedder's for dinner and while they were there they met some really nice people.   When Madison went to pay the bill he was told by the waiter that someone had picked up their tab.  It was such a sweet surprise and a great beginning to a great evening.
Kaitlin was excited to get her wrist corsage.

Sophie was so excited.  She cried when they left without her.  She really thought she was going to the dance too.

Mammoo and Pappy came over to see the handsome couple.

They looked gorgeous!
