Halloween 2012

For several years I have made Sophie's Halloween costumes.  I really enjoy doing this.  We were so busy getting ready to move that I was tempted to just purchase one this year but couldn't make myself do it.  Trick or Treating lasts for such a short time in a child's life.  I know I only have so many years to do it so I took the time and started up the sewing machine.  Sophie wanted to be a Fairy and a Butterfly so we put the two together and made her a "Fairy Fly".  She was beautiful!

This was the first year in several that Madison did not have to work on Halloween.  I'm not sure who was more excited...him or Sophie.  Like me he has always loved this holiday and was thrilled he was getting to take her Trick or Treating.  He was also excited to go through her candy stash and swipe his favorites once they got home.

We came across many scary figures that night!

But Sophie was okay as long as her "Big Brother" was there holding her hand.

Frankenstien, Toddlers & Teenagers

Madison had Kaitlin in this weekend for a visit.  The teenagers and toddler sat around dipping apples into yummy caramel while helping Sophie decorate the outside of her pumpkin.

Sophie was loving all the "teenager attention" until they decided to go out for awhile and left her home.  It broke her heart and the tears were flowing.

Look at that pitiful face.  If big brother had seen it I don't think he would have been able to leave.  He hates it when she cries.

When he got home she ran right up to him,  grabbed a hold of his neck making sure everyone knew that he belongs to her!   Sophie informed me the other day that when she gets big she's going to marry "Baste." (her name for him).  I hope Kaitlin isn't the jealous type.

Witchy Poo and Pumpkin Carving

Yesterday I spent the afternoon putting the finishing touches on Sophie's Halloween costume.  She is going to be in her words, "little witchy poo".  I think it turned out really cute and can't wait to see her in it.  I always loved making Madison's costumes and am thrilled I have a reason to do it again.  Last night we carved a pumpkin.  Sophie helped me scoop all the "goo" out while Madison and Wes played Xbox.  We picked the easiest pattern I could find and began carving.  We have two pumpkins but after I got the first done, my knife broke and I coudln't find anything else to carve it so he has a top that comes off but no reason to put a candle in him because he has no face.  Poor pumpkin.
